The YMCA of Saskatoon is seeking a caring and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our Downtown Child Development Centre team.
In this role, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, explore, and grow through play. Using the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum, you will support each child’s development, interests, and sense of belonging.

Plan and facilitate child-centred, play-based learning experiences.

Build positive and caring relationships with children and families.

Communicate openly and professionally with parents and caregivers.

Observe and document children’s interests, development, and learning experiences.

Extend children’s learning through thoughtful activities, materials, and environments.

Support children with daily routines, including meals, rest periods, diapering, and toileting.

Maintain active supervision and ensure children’s safety at all times.

Prepare and serve food in accordance with established health and safety procedures.

Clean and sanitize toys, equipment, learning spaces, and common areas.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to support a positive and respectful team environment.

Follow all YMCA policies, licensing requirements, and applicable provincial and municipal regulations.

Recognize and report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with legal and YMCA reporting requirements.

Participate in team meetings, curriculum training, and professional development opportunities.

Maintain all qualifications and certifications required for the position.

A Saskatchewan Early Childhood Educator certification at Level I, II, or III.

Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification, or the ability to obtain it before your first day of work.

Previous experience working with young children, preferably in a licensed child care setting.

Creativity and enthusiasm for supporting children’s learning through play.

The ability to adapt to the changing needs of children and the centre.

Flexibility to work assigned shifts within the centre’s operating hours.

The ability to work indoors and outdoors throughout the year.

The physical ability to lift up to 20 kg/44 lbs., bend, stoop, sit on the floor, and safely pick up and support children.
