Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager, the Deck Hand is responsible for assisting clients at the Lachine Canal Nautical Centre, conveniently located across from Atwater Market along the scenic Lachine Canal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting up and dismantling the site each day
- Preparing, cleaning, and performing minor repairs on boats
- Assisting customers with inquiries and ensuring they receive the appropriate boat for their needs
- Keeping the site clean and professional at all times, both indoors and outdoors (ensuring a tidy deck, properly displayed and clean boats, visible signage, and raised flags)
- Maintaining a friendly, positive attitude while interacting with both customers and colleagues
- Taking initiative and demonstrating leadership to enhance the customer experience and overall operations
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in both spoken French and English is mandatory
Skills & Qualifications:
- Outgoing, reliable, polite, and punctual
- Physically capable of carrying sea kayaks and paddleboards up and down a flight of stairs multiple times per day
Availability:
- The Nautical Centre operates seven days a week, from 9 AM to 9 PM, including holidays
- Evening and weekend availability is required
- Full-time and part-time positions available
Pay: $17.50 per hour
