The Role
Reporting to the Harvest Manager, the Wharf Crew Lead Hand is responsible for leading and participating in all aspects of the fish offloading operation. This role requires the safe operation and supervision of harvest vessel equipment, a strong understanding of proper fish handling practices, and a commitment to maintaining product quality throughout the offloading process.
The successful candidate will oversee the efficient transfer of fish from harvest vessels to tanker trucks while ensuring company standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence are met.
This is a hands-on leadership role that involves supervising crew members, coordinating daily offloading activities, and assisting with equipment maintenance and upkeep.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and participate in all aspects of fish offloading operations

Operate and supervise the use of harvest vessel and wharf equipment

Ensure proper fish handling procedures are followed to maintain product quality

Coordinate and support the safe and efficient offloading of fish to tanker trucks

Supervise and assist with routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and cleaning of harvest equipment

Promote and maintain a safe work environment

Provide direction, support, and leadership to wharf crew members

Ensure operational and quality standards are consistently met
Qualifications
-
Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred
-
Wharf crew experience would be considered an asset
-
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are considered an asset

Must hold, or be willing to obtain, Confined Space Training upon hire

Must hold, or be willing to obtain, Forklift Certification

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including schedules that vary based on vessel arrivals

Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
