We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll and Benefits Specialist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee compensation, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations for multiple business units. This role requires strong analytical skills and proficiency in payroll software systems.
Duties
- Provide support for payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, deductions, and benefits, weekly & bi-weekly for hourly, salaried, union & non-union on ADP-WFN
- Respond in a timely manner to employee payroll & benefits questions, employment letter requests etc.
- Maintain employee records in the HRIS system, including new hires, terminations, and changes in employment status.
- Participate in new hire orientation for payroll, time & attendance system, overview of benefits, and company pension plan information.
- Support period (weekly, biweekly, monthly and year-end) requirements/reconciliations including T4, WSIB, etc.
- Prepares payroll reports for management and auditing purposes.
- Coordinating enrolments and employee eligibility, payment of monthly premiums and reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant industry regulations, tax, and deduction laws.
- Generate reports for scheduled and ad-hoc reports such as Labour reports, headcount, overtime, attendance, hours worked and progression increments etc.
- Collaborate with the Human Resources department to manage employee benefits and deductions.
Skills
- Proficiency in payroll software such as ADP-WFN, preferably AutoPay
- Strong understanding payroll and benefits processes
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze data effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members across departments.
- Confident, solutions-oriented self-starter.
- Experienced (5+ years) payroll practitioner in a mid-sized company - Manufacturing industry strongly preferred.
- People-skills and proven ability to build relationships.
- High commitment to strong customer service.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong proficiency with computers, MS Office, Payroll systems.
