Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for our animals and maintaining a clean, safe environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about animal welfare and customer service, with the ability to handle physical tasks and work in a fast-paced setting. The Kennel Assistant will support daily operations by caring for animals, assisting clients, and ensuring the kennel area remains organized and sanitary.
Our staff work rotating shift schedules of 4 and 5 days, meaning you will have a minimum of 4 days off at a time. This allows a healthy work/life balance for our team members. This is a permanent position, with opportunity for advancement.
Duties
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment
- Feed and provide water to animals according to established schedules
- Assist with basic health checks of animals
- Handle heavy lifting when moving supplies, equipment, or animals as needed
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and assisting potential pet owners
- Monitor animal behavior and report any health or behavioral concerns to medical staff
- Maintain detailed records of animal care activities
- Support team members with daily operational tasks to ensure smooth facility functioning
Qualifications
- Previous experience in animal care is preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds)
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail and cleanliness
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and clients
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends if necessary
- Basic physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
