The Facility Technician (Parts Specialist) is responsible for managing facility parts, materials, and supplies to support ongoing maintenance operations. This role combines inventory control, procurement, and hands-on support to Facility Technicians. The successful candidate will play a key role in improving organization, efficiency, and uptime by ensuring parts and consumables are readily available and accurately tracked and assigned using maintenance management software.
Key Responsibilities
Parts & Inventory Management
- Organize, label, and maintain all facility parts and materials in a structured and accessible system
- Utilize maintenance management software to:
- Track inventory levels
- Log parts and consumables usage
- Maintain accurate part records and locations
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies
- Establish and maintain minimum/maximum stock levels for critical components
Procurement & Vendor Coordination
- Source and order parts, tools, and materials from various vendors
- Obtain quotes and compare pricing, availability, and lead times
- Maintain vendor relationships and identify new supply options as needed
- Ensure timely ordering to prevent maintenance or operational delays
Facility Supply Management
- Purchase and maintain inventory for facility consumables and operational supplies
- Monitor usage trends and forecast future needs
Maintenance Support
- Assist Facility Technicians with general maintenance tasks as required
- Prepare parts, tools, and materials in advance of scheduled work
- Participate in preventative maintenance activities
Training & Development
- Work toward obtaining a Refrigeration Operator Certificate (or higher)
- Develop familiarity with facility systems, equipment, and maintenance procedures
Qualifications & Experience
- Parts Technician 1 or higher, Red Seal preferred.
- Previous experience in parts management, warehouse, maintenance, or facility operations
- Experience using maintenance management software (CMMS)
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills (inventory systems, spreadsheets, email)
Preferred Skills
- Trades background (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, or related)
- Fork Lift Certification
- Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of tools, parts, and equipment
- Experience sourcing industrial or facility-related components
Physical Requirements
- Normally Monday to Friday 8 hour day but shift work may be required
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights
- Capable of performing physical work in a facility environment
· Ability to wear assigned personal protective equipment (PPE) for entire shift including, but not limited to medical-grade gloves, scrubs, safety eyewear, face masks, and hair/beard nets, respirators.
· This position will involve exposure to cannabis/plant materials and is therefore not suitable for anyone that suffers from allergies to cannabis or plant pollen, or for anyone that experiences medical issues such as asthma or hay fever because of exposure to cannabis/plant materials.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
