Equation Staffing Solutions is currently recruiting a Yard Equipment Operator for one of our valued clients in Calgary. This is a temporary position with the potential to become a permanent opportunity for the right candidate. We are looking for a safety-conscious and reliable operator with experience operating loaders, excavators, and skid steers. Equipment certification is preferred but not required—experienced operators are encouraged to apply.
Location: Calgary, AB
Pay: $26.00/hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Start Date: Immediate (as soon as possible)
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate loaders, excavators, skid steers, and other yard equipment.
- Support and actively participate in all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives.
- Follow company safety policies, site procedures, Alberta OHS legislation, and safe work practices.
- Complete Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), and report incidents promptly.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and coordinate repairs when required.
- Receive and monitor raw material inventory and assist with production processes as needed.
- Load and unload materials from trucks while ensuring the quality of incoming materials and security of outgoing loads.
- Stage materials safely and efficiently for production and shipping.
- Perform general yard housekeeping and seasonal maintenance.
- Report quality issues, damaged materials, or operational concerns to the Lead Yard Equipment Operator.
- Assist with inventory monitoring and support operational goals and production targets.
- Maintain accurate equipment inspection records, process documentation, and compliance paperwork.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Be available to work overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts when required.
Qualifications
- Experience operating loaders, excavators, and skid steers is required.
- Equipment certifications are considered an asset but are not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of safe equipment operation and workplace safety practices.
- Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
- Physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Dependable with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered an asset.
