The opportunity
BodyStats is looking for a qualified health professional to conduct DEXA body-composition scans, VO₂ max tests and resting metabolic rate—or RMR—tests at our Toronto clinic.
This is a regular part-time Tuesday position for someone who is precise, personable and comfortable working independently. You’ll guide clients through their appointments, collect accurate and repeatable measurements, and create a welcoming, professional testing experience.
Previous VO₂ max, RMR or DEXA experience is an asset but is not required. Complete training on our equipment, testing protocols, safety procedures and client experience will be provided.

- Exact hours will be based on the clinic’s appointment schedule
- Daytime and early-evening availability is preferred
- Additional weekday coverage may occasionally be available by mutual agreement
What you’ll do
DEXA body-composition testing
- Safely operate a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry—or DEXA/DXA—scanner
- Perform scans pursuant to the clinic’s approved prescription and radiation-safety procedures
- Complete required pre-scan screening and confirm that each appointment may proceed
- Explain the scanning process and help clients feel comfortable
- Position clients accurately for consistent, repeatable whole-body scans
- Acquire and review scans for positioning and technical quality
- Complete required equipment calibration and quality-control procedures
- Provide a clear, non-diagnostic overview of body-composition results in accordance with clinic protocols
- Follow all applicable radiation-protection and documentation requirements
VO₂ max testing
- Conduct supervised VO₂ max tests using BodyStats equipment and established protocols
- Prepare clients for treadmill or cycle-based testing
- Explain the test, equipment and expected levels of exertion
- Fit and adjust masks, heart-rate monitors and other testing equipment
- Monitor clients throughout testing and recognize reasons to modify or stop a test
- Encourage clients appropriately while maintaining a calm, safety-focused environment
- Review test quality and provide a non-diagnostic overview of results
- Clean and disinfect masks, sensors and testing equipment between appointments
Resting metabolic rate testing
- Conduct RMR tests using indirect calorimetry equipment
- Confirm that clients have followed required pre-test instructions
- Prepare and fit testing equipment correctly
- Monitor clients during testing and assess data quality
- Identify and repeat technically inadequate measurements when appropriate
- Provide a clear, non-diagnostic overview of RMR results
- Clean, disinfect and prepare equipment for the next appointment
General responsibilities
- Maintain accurate client, test and quality-control records
- Protect client privacy and handle personal health information appropriately
- Recognize and escalate technical, safety or clinical concerns
- Follow emergency-response and incident-reporting procedures
- Keep testing rooms clean, organized and ready for appointments
- Support clients of different ages, body types and fitness levels
- Deliver a warm, respectful and judgment-free client experience
Who is eligible to apply
Because this position includes operating DEXA X-ray equipment, applicants must belong to at least one of the following categories recognized under subsection 5(2) of Ontario’s Healing Arts Radiation Protection Act:
- A legally qualified medical practitioner
- A member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario
- A member of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario who:
- Has been continuously registered as a chiropodist since before November 1, 1980; or
- Is a graduate of a four-year course of instruction in chiropody
- A member of the College of Chiropractors of Ontario
- A member of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario
- A member of the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario
- An eligible out-of-province physician, dentist, medical radiation and imaging technologist, or dental hygienist who meets Ontario’s applicable exemption requirements
Applicants must hold active registration in good standing. Professional registration, HARP Act eligibility and any applicable terms, conditions or limitations will be verified before employment begins.

- Current CPR/AED certification, or willingness to obtain it before independently conducting VO₂ max tests
Experience is not required - We will train you.
Previous experience conducting DEXA, VO₂ max or RMR testing is not required.
BodyStats will provide training in:
- DEXA equipment operation and positioning
- Whole-body scan acquisition and quality review
- Radiation-safety and quality-control procedures
- VO₂ max treadmill and cycle testing
- Client screening and test-termination procedures
- Mask fitting, metabolic-cart operation and equipment cleaning
- RMR preparation, testing and quality assessment
- BodyStats documentation and client-service protocols
- Non-diagnostic explanation of test results
- Emergency and incident-response procedures
Training does not replace the professional registration and legal eligibility required to operate DEXA equipment.
Considered an asset
- Previous DEXA/DXA or bone-mineral-densitometry experience
- Experience with VO₂ max, metabolic or exercise testing
- Experience operating diagnostic X-ray equipment
- Outpatient, wellness or private-clinic experience
- Experience working with fitness, weight-management or preventative-health clients
- Familiarity with equipment calibration and quality-control procedures
- Current First Aid certification
- An interest in fitness, metabolic health or body composition
Compensation
$45–$55 per hour, depending on professional qualifications and relevant testing or clinical experience.
