Summary
Supporting children attending licensed childcare and EarlyON programs, before and after school and camp programs, the Resource Consultant facilitates inclusion of all children and the capacity building of licensed childcare in north Muskoka. They will work with the educators and family to determine goals and provide assessments to identify strengths and areas to monitor for gains. The Resource Consultant will provide support to the child and family during the transition period from childcare to Full time Kindergarten.
Under the direction of the Manager, Children and Youth Services, and as a member of the staff team, the worker provides direct service and support to children 18 months through 6 years of age. The children supported experience delays in developmental milestones and/or developmental disabilities and the Resource Consultant assists their families through co-ordinating services and supports for their child, building the capacity of the family and supporting area childcare centres. The Resource Consultant supports the community at large to respond to the needs of children and their families in a way that promotes the principles of inclusion. Attends staff meetings, supervisory meetings and person-centred planning sessions as required; performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
- ECE or equivalent degree/diploma in a related field and 2 years' relevant experience.
- Resource Consultant Certificate preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of inclusion
- Demonstrated abilities in person-centred approaches to supports
- Effective communication skills including the ability to hear what matters most to the individual
- Valid driver's license, own transportation and a willingness to transport individuals in own vehicle or agency vehicles
- Valid first aid certification
- Experience in administering screening tools is considered an asset.
