Our client, a global industrial product leader requires an Area Sales Manager for Central / Eastern Canada
Position summary:
In assigned area of responsibility retain, develop, lead a team and attain business opportunities for.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage distributor and customer relationships in assigned region.
- Increase sales and profit margin in assigned region.
- Responsible for implementing Corporate Sales Strategy.
- Effectively communicating market trends and product competitiveness to management and new business opportunities should also be communicated to the Product Managers for review.
- Regular review, distribution, and follow-up of sales leads to assigned distributors.
- Weekly and monthly team meetings and 1 on 1 meetings to help support and lead your team, including Pipeline/project opportunities review.
- Provide Corporate with other status changes, as well as forecast feedback at major OEM accounts.
- Manages between 2 to 7 employees, including sales managers and possible Application Engineer and/or Market Manager positions assigned to a given area.
- Participate in the development of direct reports, i.e., sales reports, budgets, forecasting, etc.
- Depending on the location of direct reports and customers, the expectation is for this position to have an extensive amount of travel, at times more than 50% of the time.
- Must be able to make informed decisions that are supported with an understanding of our products, our customers, and appropriate applications.
- Established sales goals and action plans with direct reports to achieve acceptable sales numbers for the assigned area.
- May include direct sales responsibility for assigned accounts or Regional Sales responsibility. Annual team member reviews.
Skills and Attributes:
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

- Ability to use Internet software, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to interface with all levels of a diverse and global organizations.
- Must be a strong negotiator with solid skills and ability to handle challenges such as pricing, delivery performance, and quality issues with minimal supervision.

- Knowledge of; Hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, automation, fluid dynamics, the ability to read a drawing or P&ID
Education, Experience, and Training
- Technical degree from an accredited college or university, preferred but not required.
- CFPHS (Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist), preferred 5-10 years industrial sales experience.
- 5 years sales management experience
- Experience with hydraulic systems; trouble shooting, designing, maintaining, etc. Experience working with distribution partners. Large industrial OEM & MRO accounts.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Responsible for all aspects of performance and conduct of Regional Sales Managers in the Area. Supervisory responsibility may also include individuals from other departments.
