Reporting to the Foreman, the Construction Labourer is responsible for performing general labour duties on commercial construction projects. The successful candidate will support site operations while ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
This position is based on client sites throughout the Okanagan region.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Overtime may be required
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, dust, and construction site hazards
- Travel to project sites throughout the Okanagan
Responsibilities
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely
- Participate in and support the company's safety culture
- Assist pipe layers, equipment operators, and other trades as required
- Perform general site labour, material handling, and housekeeping duties
- Complete daily equipment inspections and service checks
- Maintain accurate pre-trip and equipment inspection logs
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
- Return tools and equipment to designated storage areas at the end of each shift
- Follow directions from Foremen and Superintendents
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project completion
Qualifications
- Previous construction labour experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent is an asset
- Ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a team
- Positive attitude and commitment to workplace safety
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Good verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to frequently use hands and arms to handle tools and materials
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly
- Occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance
- Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and other construction-related structures
- Comfortable working around equipment, power tools, and typical construction site hazards
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
