Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Trailer Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailers and related equipment to ensure safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. This role requires a strong mechanical background, experience with heavy and industrial equipment, and excellent problem-solving skills. The Trailer Mechanic will play a vital role in supporting our fleet operations through expert repairs and preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with trailers, including structural, electrical, and mechanical components
- Perform repairs and maintenance on trailers, including brake systems, suspension, lighting, and hydraulic systems
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic equipment to complete repairs accurately
- Conduct inspections to identify potential issues before breakdowns occur
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, or other industrial machinery as needed for repairs or moving trailers
- Follow safety protocols during all maintenance activities to ensure a safe work environment
- Maintain detailed records of repairs performed and parts used
- Assist in the assembly or reassembly of trailer components during repairs or upgrades
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with trailers or heavy equipment; dealership experience is a plus
- Knowledge of automotive repair, electrical systems, HVAC systems, welding, and schematics
- Experience working with farm machinery, industrial equipment, or power tools is desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment or similar brands is advantageous
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on skills using hand tools and power tools
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Good customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $24.64-$43.88 per hour
