Role Overview
This is a hands-on maintenance role within a Canadian cleantech manufacturing environment focused on sustainable materials and industrial processing. Working fully onsite, you’ll support daily production by maintaining and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and facilities. This role suits someone practical, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working directly on the floor rather than behind a desk.
Must‑Haves
- 0–3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial equipment support, or a similar manufacturing/operations role
- Fluency in Cantonese – required to communicate effectively with direct supervision and to support daily training and operational communication
- Working proficiency in English for documentation, safety procedures, and cross-team communication
- Practical experience troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing preventive and corrective maintenance
- Comfort working in a production or manufacturing environment (machinery, equipment, facilities)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a problem‑solver mindset—able to diagnose issues and take initiative
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, schematics, and equipment instructions
- Legally eligible to work full-time in Canada
Nice‑to‑Haves
- Experience in plastics extrusion or related manufacturing processes
- Technical diploma, certificate, or trade-related training (hands-on experience is valued over formal education)
- Exposure to lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or plant optimization practices
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production machinery, equipment, and facilities
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement practical, effective solutions to minimize downtime
- Support production and operations teams to keep workflows running smoothly
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and operators to maintain and improve equipment performance
- Follow all safety procedures and operational standards on the production floor
- Maintain clear and accurate maintenance logs and records
- Learn and apply new tools, techniques, and maintenance practices as equipment and processes evolve
- Assist with general operational support as needed in a growing manufacturing environment
Who This Role Suits
This role is well suited to someone who learns best by doing and takes pride in fixing problems with their hands. You’ll do well here if you’re mechanically curious, reliable, and motivated to keep equipment running efficiently. It’s a strong fit for technicians who prefer practical experience over theory and enjoy working closely with production teams in a fast‑moving environment.
This role is not suited to candidates looking for a primarily office-based, supervisory, or design-focused engineering position.
