Position Summary
We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will support the execution of reinforcing steel supply and installation projects from award through completion by assisting with project planning, scheduling, coordination, procurement, cost tracking, documentation, value engineering, constructability reviews, and risk management.
Working closely with Project Managers, Estimating, Detailing, Fabrication, Logistics, Field Operations, and Clients, this role plays a key part in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
This position is ideal for candidates with a background in civil, structural, or construction engineering who are looking to build a long-term career in construction project management.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist Project Managers with the planning, coordination, and execution of reinforcing steel projects from award through closeout.
- Review contract documents, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with detailing teams to ensure shop drawings are submitted, reviewed, and approved on schedule.
- Monitor project schedules and assist in tracking key milestones.
- Coordinate fabrication, logistics, and material delivery schedules with production and field operations.
- Assist with quantity tracking, project reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and change management.
- Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and project correspondence.
- Participate in project meetings with owners, consultants, contractors, and internal project teams.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, meeting minutes, and project records.
- Assist in identifying and resolving technical, operational, and scheduling issues.
- Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews to improve project efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize schedules.
- Recommend practical reinforcing steel layouts, detailing methods, and installation strategies where appropriate.
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal departments to implement practical project solutions.
- Assist in identifying commercial, operational, labour, procurement, quality, and scheduling risks during tender review, project handover, and project execution.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across estimating, detailing, fabrication, logistics, and field operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or actively pursuing registration is considered an asset.
- 1–5 years of experience in construction, engineering, project coordination, or project management.
- Experience with reinforcing steel (rebar), reinforced concrete, structural steel, or heavy civil construction is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using rebar detailing software, BIM, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or construction/project management software.
- Understanding of CSA standards related to reinforcing steel.
- Experience working on commercial, infrastructure, industrial, institutional, nuclear, or heavy civil construction projects.
- Experience participating in value engineering, constructability reviews, and project risk assessments.

- Salary: $70,000–$95,000 per year (commensurate with experience; pay range disclosed in accordance with Ontario pay transparency requirements)
