Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Construction Estimator to lead both pre-construction and project execution for custom residential new home builds. This role requires a professional with a strong background in high-value custom homes capable of managing project estimation from initial estimating through procurement.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience estimating and managing custom homes valued at $2M+.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating
- Prepare detailed and accurate material and labor estimates
- Custom single-family homes ($2M+ value)
- Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and project scope
- Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
- Negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Develop and maintain budgets throughout pre-construction phases
- Prepare and submit bid proposals for new projects
- Price and manage change orders
- Manage full lifecycle of residential construction project estimation and procurement
- Issue and administer subcontracts and purchase orders
- Coordinate material procurement and scheduling
- Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting
- Review and process submittals and construction documentation
- Communicate regularly with leadership, providing updates on cost and progress
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and quality standards
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in residential construction estimating
- Proven experience estimating and/or managing custom homes valued at $2M+ (required)
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures
- Excellent budgeting, and cost-control skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- High attention to detail and strong analytical abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Manitoba
- Must have over 6+ years of experience in residential estimating
- Formal education or certification in Construction Management or a related field
