The Opportunity:
Porcupine Wood Products is seeking a certified forklift operator with lumber industry experience operating up to a 20,000-pound counterbalance forklift. Our operations are in Salmo, BC, the hub of the Kootenays.
Expected Responsibilities:
· Operate a counterbalance forklift safely and efficiently.
· Conduct daily pretrip inspections and record results in the logbook.
· Must be paperwork oriented.
· Stage lumber for shipping if required.
· Assist with loading and unloading a dry kiln.
· May assist in loading rough and finished lumber products for shipment.
· Document lumber moved from facilities to storage yards.
· Provide backup and support to other forklift operators.
· Be a team player.
- Required Skills:
- Valid forklift operator certification
- A high degree of personal motivation.
- Minimum two years experience in a lumber yard or sawmill environment.
- Strong communication skills required.
- Safe operation always required, multiple pieces of mobile equipment operating in yard areas.
Considered a strong asset:
· Previous experience working in a sawmill or planermill environment.
· Advanced first aid ticket
· Tally ticket
