Columbia Valley Sewer & Drain is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and safety-oriented Hydrovac & Septic Truck Swamper to join our team.
This is a physically demanding, hands-on position supporting the operation of hydrovac and septic vacuum trucks on residential, commercial, municipal, and industrial job sites throughout the Columbia Valley and surrounding areas. The successful candidate will assist with excavation, septic pumping, sewer maintenance, and environmental services while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Experience is an asset, but we are willing to train motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist the vacuum truck operator with hydrovac excavation, septic pumping, sewer and drain cleaning, and related services.
- Safely handle vacuum hoses, pressure hoses, wands, and excavation equipment.
- Set up and maintain safe work zones, including traffic control and site protection when required.
- Assist with exposing underground utilities using hydrovac excavation techniques.
- Support septic tank pumping, inspections, and maintenance operations.
- Clean and maintain trucks, hoses, tools, and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and report maintenance concerns.
- Follow all company safety procedures and provincial regulations.
- Communicate effectively with operators, customers, and coworkers on job sites.
- Represent Columbia Valley Sewer & Drain professionally while providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record (Class 3 with Air Brakes is considered a strong asset).
- Physically fit and capable of lifting 50 lbs or more repeatedly throughout the day.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment are considered assets.
- Experience in hydrovac, septic, construction, utilities, civil, or environmental services is preferred but not required.
- Positive attitude, dependable, punctual, and willing to learn.
