Milestone Foster Homes is licensed by the Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services. Our team of professional caregivers provides residential, treatment foster care to children ages 0-18 who are in the care of various child welfare agencies in Ontario. Our 110+ foster homes are located across the GTA. Milestone is currently in need of Child and Youth Care Practitioners in a staff supported model in Kitchener, On.

What are we looking for:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated Child and Youth Workers to join our team. As a Child and Youth Worker, you will be responsible for providing support and guidance to children and youth facing various challenges. Your role will involve creating a safe and nurturing environment, implementing therapeutic interventions, and promoting positive development. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for children and youth, based on their unique needs and goals.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to children and youth, helping them navigate through difficult situations and emotions.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment that promotes positive behavior and healthy relationships.
- Facilitate group activities and workshops to enhance social skills, self-esteem, and overall well-being.
- Collaborate with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care and support.
- Document and maintain accurate records of client progress, daily logs, medication and medical forms, incidents, and interventions.
- Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in child and youth care, incorporating them into your work.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities.
- Work with clients with complex needs utilizing a trauma/neuro divergent informed approach.
- Support and facilitate positive access visits when required.
- Transporting clients to programming, appointments, access
- Work collaboratively within a team to meet the needs of the clients.
- Creates and maintains a clean, safe and stimulating environment, including meal preparation and all necessary house cleaning and organization.
- Dispense all medication in accordance with Agency policy.
- Carry out the Agency’s policies and procedures as they relate to the safety and well-being of children and youth in residence.
- Attend trainings as required and staff meetings.
- Participate in regularly scheduled supervision.
- Engage in the utilization and application of agency/ministry approved physical intervention techniques (UMAB) when required
What do you need to apply:
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- 2 million liability insurance, or willing to obtain.
- Current Broad Record Check
- Child welfare check.
- Up to date First Aid and CPR
- Working knowledge of child welfare system and related experience.
- Knowledge of Ontario's Quality Standards Framework and the CYFSA is a strong asset.
- Experience and Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, FASD, ASD, Children’s Mental Health and behavior management techniques is a strong asset
- Previous experience working with children and youth in a similar capacity is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, youth, and their families.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Excellent problem-solving and crisis intervention skills.
Working Conditions:
The role may involve physical activities and the ability to lift and carry objects up to a certain weight. This position requires flexibility in working hours, as some evening and weekend shifts are required.
