Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Labourer to support our horticultural operations. This role involves the harvesting, planting, disbudding, and sticking of cut flowers, specifically chrysanthemums. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and horticulture, along with the physical ability to perform demanding tasks. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in greenhouse operations and plant cultivation. Starting is $18.25/hour for no experience up to $25/hour based on experience/skills.
Responsibilities
- Support planting, transplanting, and pruning activities within the greenhouse
- Operate hand tools and mechanical equipment for plant maintenance and setup
- Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests or disease for appropriate action
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the greenhouse workspace
- Assist with loading and unloading supplies, soil, and plants as needed
Skills
- Experience with hand tools such as pruners, trowels, and shovels
- Basic math skills for counting production and keeping track of varieties
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds or more)
- Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift, and perform manual tasks throughout the day
