Experienced Cake Baker
The Cake Shop is looking for an experienced cake baker to join our team immediately at our nut free bakery in Hintonburg, Ottawa.
This is a cake baking position, not a bread baking position. Applicants must have professional experience baking cakes and other sweet baked goods in a commercial bakery or professional kitchen.
About the position
The cake baker is responsible for completing our daily baking production accurately, efficiently and consistently. You must be comfortable working independently, following established recipes and keeping up with the demands of a busy bakery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake cakes in a variety of flavours and sizes
- Bake cupcakes, brownies, muffins, sponge sheets and other sweet bakery products
- Accurately follow recipes, measurements and daily production lists
- Monitor baking times, temperatures and product quality
- Prepare batters and other components required for daily production
- Maintain consistency in flavour, texture, size and appearance
- Keep the baking area clean, organized and properly stocked
- Follow food safety, sanitation and allergen procedures
- Communicate with the bakery team regarding production needs, shortages and deadlines
Requirements
- Professional cake baking experience is required
- Experience producing cakes and sweet baked goods in quantity
- Strong understanding of cake batters, baking temperatures and production timing
- Able to work efficiently and independently in a busy bakery
- Dependable, organized and able to follow a daily production schedule
- Able to read, understand and accurately follow recipes written in English
- Available to begin work at 7:00 a.m.
- Must currently live in Ottawa and have reliable transportation to work
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Schedule
Monday to Thursday, beginning at 7:00 a.m.
Shifts are approximately 7 to 8 hours, or until the day’s baking is completed. Additional hours may be required before major holidays.
