Position Overview
McCarthy Fowler Professional Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Solicitor to join our growing Hagersville office. The successful candidate will primarily support wills and estates matters, while also assisting with a variety of solicitor-side files including real estate and corporate/commercial matters.
This role is ideal for a candidate who enjoys hands-on experience, client interaction, and working across multiple areas of law in a community-focused practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage solicitor-side files from intake to completion
- Draft, review, and prepare legal documents and correspondence
- Assist clients with real estate, wills and estates, corporate/commercial, and other solicitor matters as required
- Conduct legal research and provide practical legal advice
- Communicate directly with clients, financial institutions, opposing counsel, and third parties
- Maintain accurate file management and ensure deadlines are met
- Attend meetings, signings, and client appointments as needed
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional and responsive service
- Work collaboratively with lawyers and support staff across the firm
- Perform other duties as reasonably assigned, consistent with the nature and scope of the role
Qualifications
- Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Previous solicitor experience considered an asset
- Strong drafting, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple files independently and efficiently
- Detail-oriented with strong client service skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
