Cold Lake Brewing & Distilling Co. is looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our growing kitchen team. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment and isn't afraid to jump on the line during busy service.
Our kitchen is small, so organization, communication, and innovative thinking are essential. We're looking for someone who can build efficient systems, lead by example, maintain high food quality, and create a positive team culture.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and motivate the kitchen team during daily service and peak periods.
- Schedule, train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff.
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including prep, line execution, and closing procedures.
- Order food and kitchen supplies while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Monitor food costs, portion control, waste, and inventory.
- Maintain consistent food quality, presentation, and recipe standards.
- Ensure Alberta Health Services food safety and sanitation standards are consistently met.
- Develop efficient prep systems and improve kitchen workflow.
- Work collaboratively with front-of-house management to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
- Assist with menu features, seasonal specials, and operational improvements.
- Lead by example while fostering a respectful, accountable, and team-oriented workplace.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of restaurant kitchen leadership or management experience preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with ordering, inventory management, food costing, and labour management.
- Ability to multitask and remain organized during high-volume service.
- Comfortable training and developing staff.
- A positive attitude with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Food Safe Certification (required or willingness to obtain).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable lifting, bending, reaching, and performing repetitive physical tasks.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands require.
