Location: Elmwood School, Ottawa
Elmwood School is seeking a highly organized, relationship-oriented, and dynamic Development Coordinator to join the Advancement team. Reporting to the Director of Development & Community Engagement, this role will support a wide range of fundraising, donor relations, alumni engagement, communications, and event initiatives that strengthen and grow the Elmwood community.
The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and energized by meaningful work. They bring demonstrated fundraising experience, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and a warm, professional approach to relationship-building. This individual will play an important role in the execution of advancement events, donor stewardship, fundraising operations, and development-related communications, while working closely with colleagues across the school. The Development Coordinator will also support the planning, coordination, and momentum-building efforts related to Elmwood’s capital campaign and broader strategic fundraising priorities.

Key Responsibilities
Event Planning & Execution
Assist, coordinate, and execute advancement events (donor events, alumni gatherings, stewardship events, assist on admission events, fundraising initiatives)
Manage logistics including timelines, vendors, invitations, guest lists, and on-site execution
Support post-event follow-up and stewardship activities
Donor & Alumni Relations & Stewardship
Assist in cultivating and maintaining positive donor relationships
Support donor communications, acknowledgements, and stewardship touchpoints
Help prepare materials for donor meetings and engagement opportunities
Donor Research & Meeting Coordination
Assist in donor and prospect research to support cultivation strategies
Identify and compile relevant background information for meetings
Coordinate and schedule donor visits and meetings where appropriate
Fundraising Support
Provide operational and administrative support for fundraising campaigns
Assist with tracking pledges, gifts, and engagement activity
Support donor pipeline management
Communications Collaboration
Liaise closely with the Communications team on campaign needs
Coordinate content requirements for:
Social media
Email communications
Outreach materials
Event promotion
Ensure alignment between development priorities and messaging
Assist in the execution of social media campaigns and development-related digital communications
Bring demonstrated social media expertise, including an understanding of content creation, audience engagement, and platform best practices
Administrative Support
Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Development & Community Engagement
Maintain accurate donor records and database updates in Veracross
Support general advancement office needs as required
Qualifications & Experience
Demonstrated fundraising experience required
Experience in an independent school or educational environment strongly preferred
Proven experience supporting events or project coordination
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Professional, warm, and donor-focused demeanor
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Compensation
Salary range $55,000 - $70,000
Compensation commensurate with experience
