Director of Community Services (Town of Rimbey)
ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the CAO, the Director of Community Services shall be directly responsible for the overall administration, planning, organizing, coordination, control and evaluation of Town parks, facilities, programs, and administrative services of the Department as well as the supervision of all staff within the Community Services Department.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· To prepare, and present, to the CAO, the annual operating and capital expenditure and revenue budgets for the Department.
· To monitor and control all expenditures of the Department.
· To recommend, hire, supervise, evaluate and discipline, when required, all staff within the Department.
· To plan, coordinate, assign, evaluate and supervise directly and through delegation the work of all staff employed within the Department.
· To develop, plan, interpret, implement and evaluate policy required in the administration of the Department and approved by Town Council.
· To ensure the planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and evaluation of all parks, public recreation facility operations, administration services, programs and events required to accommodate the needs of the residents of Rimbey.
· To develop, organize, promote, implement and evaluate Town operated programs and events. Current events include the Rimbey Parade and Canada Day Celebrations.
· To prepare and present plans, policy recommendations, administrative reports, records and correspondence as required.
· To establish, promote and maintain effective public relations, on behalf of the Town and the Department, to local, provincial and federal authorities and organizations.
· To research, locate and apply for funding/grants available to the Department.
· This position will be responsible for the oversite and implementation of our Health and Safety plan.
· To actively participate and lead in our emergency management program.
· To perform other related work as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a primary focus on Recreation Administration or related education. A combination of experience and formal education will be considered.
- A demonstrated history of working within a recreation/ community services portfolio with an increasing level of responsibility.
- ICS 100-300 preferred.
- The incumbent shall be computer literate with proficiency in a variety of software applications such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to plan, organize and implement various services for the public.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Provincial driver's license.
