The Optical Technician is responsible for assisting in the preparation, fitting, adjustment, repair, and maintenance of optical lenses, frames, and related eyewear products. This role supports optometrists and optical staff by ensuring accurate lens processing, quality control, and excellent customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Measure, fit, and adjust eyeglasses and optical frames for customers
- Assist in lens edging, mounting, and eyewear assembly
- Interpret optical prescriptions accurately
- Perform repairs and maintenance on eyeglasses and optical equipment
- Conduct quality inspections on lenses and frames before release
- Educate customers on proper eyewear care and usage
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the optical laboratory and work area
- Operate optical machinery and lens processing equipment
- Assist with inventory monitoring of frames, lenses, and supplies
- Coordinate with optometrists and other clinic staff regarding patient requirements
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Handle customer concerns and provide excellent service support
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate records when necessary
Qualifications
- At least a vocational diploma, associate degree, or related training in Optical Technology or a related field
- Previous experience in optical clinics, laboratories, or eyewear retail is an advantage
- Knowledge of optical prescriptions, lenses, and frame adjustments
- Ability to operate optical tools and equipment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Pay: $56,000.00-$68,000.00 per year
