Facility & Site Summer Associate

Métis Crossing is a place where the past breathes through every fiddle strum, every bead, every story told around a crackling fire under the northern sky.
Perched on the banks of the majestic North Saskatchewan River, Métis Crossing is Alberta’s first major Métis cultural destination; a place of learning, healing, and celebration. Our Lodge, Cultural Gathering Centre, and sweeping landscape are not just buildings or land; they are living reflections of Métis pride and perseverance.
We are looking for dynamic Facility & Site team memberswho can bring that story to life for the Summer. This temporary position runs from May 4 to August 30, 2026.
The successful applicants will be responsible for contributing to the professional presentation and appearance of Métis Crossing. Working as part of a team, they ensure the campground, historic village, gardens, permaculture installations, trails, and gathering center are properly maintained. While your primary responsibilities will align with those of Facilities and Site, you will be required to assist with other duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform lawn care and maintenance to ensure grounds are well-kept.
· Maintain the interior and exterior of buildings to a high standard.
· Carry out general repairs on facilities and equipment as needed.
· Organize and maintain safe work and storage areas.
· Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
· Working knowledge of light-duty HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
· Experience using power tools and lawn maintenance equipment.
· Enrollment in an educational program is preferred.
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
· Familiarity with safe working practices and safety regulation such as WHMIS and First Aid.
· Knowledge of Alberta’s history and cultural diversity.
· Understanding of Alberta Métis culture, past and present.
Skills & Competencies
· Strong oral communication skills to interact effectively.
· Experience working with diverse audiences from varying cultural backgrounds and age groups is preferred.
· High attention to detail to ensure the quality and safety of tasks.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, while taking direction effectively.
· Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in demanding environments.
Other Requirements
· Availability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.
· Clear Criminal Record Check and clear Driver’s Abstract is mandatory.
· Must be a student returning to school in Fall 2026.
Employment Details
Schedule will be based on working 32 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of Métis Crossing, and will include weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
