Role Overview
The Senior Developer, Commercial Technology is responsible for designing, building, optimizing, and supporting scalable technology solutions across Commercial Tech Services. This role combines hands-on software development, solution design, production support, and technical leadership to deliver secure, resilient, and modern digital capabilities. The Senior Developer works closely with middleware, data analytics, DevOps, cybersecurity, architecture, infrastructure, product engineering, QA, and business teams to support complex commercial technology platforms and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, optimize, and support enterprise-grade solutions across Commercial Technology platforms.
- Influence the commercial technology product roadmap, including modernization, open-source adoption, integration platform capabilities, and cloud-native solution patterns.
- Apply expert technical knowledge to create pragmatic, secure, scalable, and resilient solutions across complex business and technology environments.
- Define and promote development standards, technical guidelines, best practices, and operational readiness models.
- Partner with architecture and solution teams to translate business needs into detailed technical designs.
- Provide development and production support for complex, mission-critical environments.
- Participate in requirements gathering, analysis, estimation, code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and retrospectives across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Respond to technical issues in a professional, timely, and solution-oriented manner.
- Make recommendations on highly complex technical issues and provide clear direction on solution approach, implementation, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate across teams with technical leaders and Solution Architects to design and deliver enterprise-level solutions.
- Identify emerging tools, technologies, and platform capabilities that can support strategic business and technology objectives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to management on complex technical matters, compliance considerations, implementation readiness, and communication protocols.
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable code while promoting technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Guide, mentor, and coach developers and students, supporting capability development across the team.
- Work closely with QA teams to define acceptance criteria and support testing, defect resolution, and release readiness.
- Introduce modern industry concepts and innovative approaches to improve business outcomes and technical delivery.
- Operate effectively in ambiguous situations and provide original, practical, and innovative technical guidance to others.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Security, or a related discipline, with 8+ years of relevant experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 8+ years of Azure cloud experience, including AKS, API Management, Logic Apps, Function Apps, Service Bus, or similar services.
- 8+ years of experience working in Agile and DevOps delivery environments.
- 8+ years of Java development experience, including building and supporting microservices-based applications.
- 5+ years of experience leading technical delivery, solution implementation, or complex development initiatives.
- Expert knowledge of microservices development, integration patterns, and modern software engineering practices.
- Strong experience with XSLT, Apache Camel, Kafka, containers, Docker, and serverless workloads.
- Experience mentoring, coaching, and supporting developers, students, or junior technical team members.
- Familiarity with network protocols, networking infrastructure, network threat landscapes, and related security controls.
- Broad knowledge of IT disciplines, including SDLC, STLC, system administration, quality assurance, application management, and data management.
- Advanced problem-solving, communication, influencing, project management, and time management skills.
- Experience with IBM MQ and IBM DataPower.
- Understanding of data lakes, operational data stores, analytical data stores, Snowflake, and Databricks.
