Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Playground Assistant to support the safety, engagement, and development of children during outdoor activities. This role involves supervising children on playgrounds, facilitating fun and inclusive play, and ensuring a secure environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a commitment to fostering positive social interactions. Prior experience in caregiving, early childhood education, or working with individuals with disabilities is a plus. Duties
- Supervise children during outdoor playtime, ensuring safety and adherence to playground rules
- Facilitate inclusive and engaging activities that promote social skills and physical development
- Assist children with equipment use and encourage cooperative play among diverse groups
- Monitor the playground area for potential hazards and address safety concerns promptly
- Support children with special needs or disabilities to participate fully in outdoor activities
- Maintain cleanliness of the playground area by removing debris and ensuring equipment is in good condition
- Collaborate with staff and caregivers to create a positive, nurturing environment for all children
- Document any incidents or concerns according to program policies
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational, caregiving, or recreational settings is preferred
- Classroom experience or early childhood education background is advantageous
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to supervise children responsibly and promote inclusive play
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and families
- Passion for fostering safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate outdoor activities
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
