Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser/Buyer to join our team, reporting directly to the Technical Services & Technical Development Manager. This role is essential in ensuring the consistent supply of consumables and materials required to support uninterrupted production operations.
The Purchaser/Buyer will be responsible for managing purchasing activities, coordinating with vendors, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels. This position works closely with Production, Scheduling, and Quality teams to proactively address supply chain risks, manage vendor performance, and ensure compliance with quality standards—particularly within a regulated environment supporting pharmaceutical customers.
The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational and communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while driving reliability and continuous improvement across the procurement process.
Responsibilities
- Prepare purchase orders for vendors covering all consumables and materials; track and follow up on schedules and delivery dates
- Manage vendor claims, complaints, and NCR actions, ensuring adherence to CCL chargeback policies while maintaining uninterrupted production supply
- Monitor production schedules and inventory levels to ensure material and specialty purchases are aligned; proactively communicate any risks related to shortages, delays, or supplier disruptions
- Manage and track offsite inventory to ensure accuracy and availability
- Evaluate and meet with new and prospective suppliers to ensure alignment with CCL standards for quality, service, and pricing
- Collaborate with the Quality department on discontinued materials and change controls to ensure pharmaceutical customers have sufficient time for validation and testing
- Maintain, track, and report on key performance metrics
- Provide cross-functional support and act as backup coverage for other Purchasing roles as required
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing and inventory control within a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of raw materials and supply chain processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and pivot tables
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Excellent attention to detail with strong follow-up and problem-solving abilities
- Highly organized and multi-task oriented, with the ability to prioritize and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to work closely with cross-functional partners
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and confidently while exercising good judgment in decision-making
