- Pump Mechanic / Pump Technician
We are seeking a highly skilled Pump Mechanic with direct, hands-on experience in pump systems. Candidates with general mechanical experience will be considered only if they have worked specifically on pumps (disassembly, repair, and reassembly).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hands-on shop and/or field work including disassembly, inspection, cleaning, repair, and reassembly of industrial pumps.
- Lead and train junior mechanics on proper pump assembly and repair procedures.
- Diagnose pump failures, conduct root cause analysis, and provide repair recommendations.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and pump assembly diagrams.
- Ensure all inspection reports, measurements, and service documentation are completed accurately.
- Manage workflow by prioritizing and assigning tasks based on work orders and deadlines.
- Perform safety inspections and maintain strict adherence to safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Mandatory: Proven experience working specifically on industrial pumps (not just general mechanical equipment).
- Hands-on experience with pump disassembly, inspection, measurement, repair, and reassembly.
- Ability to measure tolerances, record data, and follow OEM or industry standards during pump servicing.
- Strong understanding of pump operating conditions (pressure, temperature, flow, alignment).
- Experience repairing at least two or more of the following pump types:
- End Suction Centrifugal Pumps
- ANSI Process Pumps
- Overhung Pumps
- Between Bearing Pumps
- Multistage Pumps
- Vertical Turbine Pumps
- Positive Displacement Pumps
- Piston Pumps
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Familiarity with ANSI, API, and ASME standards related to pump repair and maintenance.
- Trade certification (Millwright, Mechanical Technician, or similar) or equivalent hands-on pump experience.
Preferred (Nice to Have):
- Experience with machining (lathe, milling machines, etc.).
- Background in oil & gas, energy, industrial manufacturing, or pulp & paper industries.
- Experience working with pump systems, valves, and rotating equipment in industrial environments.
