Seasonal Equipment Operator / Yard Labourer
4-Day Work Week | 12-Hour Shifts | Potential for Full-TimeA&S Scrap Metal is currently seeking a motivated and reliable Seasonal Equipment Operator / Yard Labourer to join our team. This position works in a fast-paced scrap and recycling yard environment and offers the potential to transition into full-time employment for the right candidate.We offer a consistent 4-day work week with 12-hour shifts, providing a stable schedule and extended time off.Wage:$20–$25 per hour, based on experience.Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare end-of-life vehicles for crushing
- Drain vehicle fluids (fuel, oil, coolant, etc.) following environmental regulations
- Remove tires, batteries, and other components
- Bale scrap materials using baling equipment
- Operate equipment including balers, excavators, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and screening equipment
- Wrap and cable loads securely for transport
- Help prepare and stage loads for shipping
- Sort and organize materials throughout the yard
- Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow all company safety and environmental procedures
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (required)
- Experience operating balers, excavators, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, or screening equipment is an asset
- Experience securing and preparing loads for transport is an asset
- Mechanical or automotive experience is an asset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliable, and safety-focused
