Position
Summary:
The Manager
of Information Technology provides strategic leadership for Near North District
School Board’s technology environment, ensuring reliable, secure, and
innovative digital services that support student achievement, instructional
delivery, and corporate operations.
Reporting to
the Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, the Manager is accountable for the
planning, delivery, security, and continuous improvement of technology services
across all NNDSB schools and facilities. The role balances long-term planning
strategies with day-to-day operational leadership, ensuring technology
investments align with Board priorities, Ministry of Education requirements,
and evolving cybersecurity, privacy, and accessibility expectations.
As a key partner to senior administration, this
position collaborates with academic and operational departments to support the
use of thoughtful, inclusive, and sustainable technology across the system.
Core Position Responsibilities:

Ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of core systems
supporting teaching, learning, and business operations

Act as a key liaison between IT and schools, departments, senior
administration, and external partners

Plan, manage, and
monitor IT operating and capital budgets to support responsible and sustainable
financial decision-making

Establish and maintain technology governance frameworks, standards, and
policies that support accountability, transparency, and risk management

Support the effective
use of artificial intelligence in the district by aligning technology systems,
cybersecurity, and data practices with instructional and operational
priorities

Support training, skill development, and capacity building within the IT
department

Turn strategic
objectives into clear roadmaps and project plans and see them through to drive
continuous improvement across the department.

Knowledge and Skills:

A solid understanding
of modern IT environments, including cloud services, cybersecurity, data
management, and the systems that support day‑to‑day work

Familiarity with
Ontario K–12 education systems, workflows, and regulatory requirements is a
strong asset

Proven ability to
choose and implement technology solutions that support organizational goals
while being mindful of budget and risk

Strong communication
skills, with a demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and support
people through change

Confidence leading
teams and initiatives in complex environments where priorities and technologies
continue to evolve

Proven focus on
coaching, recruiting, and training, while fostering ongoing staff development
in a positive and proactive work environment
