Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Carpenter to oversee and coordinate construction and renovation projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of various construction disciplines, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics. This role involves supervising teams, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering high-quality craftsmanship across a range of projects including masonry, carpentry, roofing, and finishing work.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise construction crews on-site, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to project specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to guide project execution.
- Oversee concrete forming, rebar installation, framing, roofing, siding, and tile laying activities.
- Coordinate with team members to perform woodworking, cabinetry installation, flooring installation, drywall finishing, and painting.
- Coordinate with project managers to develop schedules and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and other equipment safely and effectively.
- Conduct quality control inspections to verify work meets design specifications and safety standards.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior team members to develop their skills in carpentry, masonry, roofing, siding, and other trades.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety on-site.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction supervision or lead roles within the industry.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, heavy lifting techniques, rebar installation, siding installation, tile laying, flooring installation, and cabinet installation.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics accurately.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to coordinate diverse teams effectively.
- Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations related to construction sites an asset.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in various environmental conditions.
- Nice-to-have skills include experience in cabinet installation, flooring installation (including tile laying), siding application, or rebar installation.
