Engineering for Kids is hiring STEM Camp Leaders for Summer 2026.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience working with children who are ready to take on a leadership role and oversee daily camp operations.

About the Role
You will work alongside another Camp Leader, sometimes with an Assistant, to deliver engaging STEM programming and ensure a safe, organized, and positive camp experience. Camp Leaders are responsible for group management, daily coordination, lesson delivery and supporting both campers and staff throughout the day. We encourage you to bring your own ideas, passions, and expertise to the job!
Our camps focus on collaborative, project-based learning where kids work together to solve real-world challenges through Minecraft, LEGO EV3 robotics, hands-on engineering builds, and team activities.
Many of our staff return for multiple seasons or continue working with us during the school year.
Position Details
- Mandatory training will take place on various days and evenings in June.
- Camp Dates: June 29 to September 4
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hour shifts. Staff are typically assigned 6 to 9 weeks of camp, depending on location and enrollment, with some scheduled time off.
- Locations: Recreation centres in Victoria, Sidney, and West Shore (you may be assigned to one or more locations)
- Wage: $20.28–$22.36 per hour ($19.50–$21.50 plus 4% vacation pay)
What You Will Do
- Oversee daily camp operations from set up to clean up, ensuring activities run smoothly throughout the day
- Plan and organize daily activities and prepare for upcoming sessions
- Lead activities and engage campers
- Manage group dynamics, behaviour, and incidents appropriately
- Deliver STEM activities and guide campers through projects
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment
- Communicate with EFK Admin and site contacts with regular updates
- Engage and support campers with varying needs and abilities
- Follow policies related to safety, supervision, and program standards
- Be a positive role model
- Act as a professional, approachable presence for campers, families, and staff
What You Bring
Experience:
- Experience working with children ages 5–12 (1–3 years preferred)
- Teaching (1–3 years preferred)
- Customer service or client-facing experience is an asset
Skills:
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Confident leading groups and supporting staff
- Organized and proactive in preparing for daily camp activities
- Clear and effective communication with children, parents, and teams
- Ability to break down STEM concepts into simple explanations
- Problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Able to be active throughout the day
Interests:
- Teaching, Engineering, STEM, robotics, coding, LEGO, Minecraft, Dungeons and Dragons
Requirements (or willingness to obtain before camps begin)
- Emergency First Aid and CPR C
- Police Information Check with vulnerable sector screening (within the last 4 months)
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle an asset
Some positions are funded through Canada Summer Jobs. Applicants must:
- Between 15- 30 years of age
