This summer, we're building sustainable infrastructure to bring quality coding education to schools and community programs across Ontario and Quebec.
About the Role
The Curriculum Developer & Teacher Training Specialist will adapt Hakili's existing YesWeCode curriculum for classroom and school delivery, creating comprehensive teacher-facing materials and professional development resources. This role combines curriculum adaptation, instructional design, and educator training — building teacher capacity to deliver coding education to hundreds of students.
What You'll Do
Curriculum Adaptation & Enhancement (50%)
- Review and analyze existing YesWeCode curriculum content
- Adapt curriculum for classroom/school delivery format
- Align with provincial curriculum standards (Ontario, Quebec, etc.)
- Create differentiated materials for diverse learners
- Develop classroom management guidance for coding instruction
- Enhance lesson plans with detailed timing, materials lists, and learning objectives
- Create assessment tools and rubrics aligned with school reporting requirements
- Deepen AI ethics integration throughout all units
- Format curriculum for professional publication and sales
Teacher-Facing Materials Development (30%)
- Create comprehensive teacher implementation guide
- Develop professional development modules for teaching coding
- Write facilitation scripts and teaching tips for each lesson
- Create troubleshooting guides for common student challenges
- Design video tutorials for teachers showing how to teach each concept
- Build curated resource library and printable classroom materials
- Develop implementation roadmap and pacing guides for schools
- Create parent communication templates
Teacher Professional Development Workshops (15%)
- Design and facilitate 3-4 teacher professional development workshops
- Recruit 5-8 educators per session
- Present curriculum and model coding pedagogy best practices
- Gather feedback on usability, clarity, and classroom applicability
- Refine curriculum based on educator feedback
- Collect testimonials and secure commitments for fall pilots
Packaging & Sales Support (5%)
- Prepare curriculum for commercial packaging and sales
- Create curriculum overview document for schools/organizations
- Develop sample units for sales demonstrations
- Support sales team with educator-focused messaging
Who You Are
Required:
- Post-secondary student or recent graduate in education, curriculum studies, instructional design, computer science, or related field
- Age 15-30 (CSJ eligibility requirement)
- Strong knowledge of coding/programming (Python, Scratch, JavaScript, or web development)
- Understanding of K-12 education systems and classroom dynamics
- Excellent written communication and curriculum development skills
- Experience facilitating professional development or training for adults
- Comfortable presenting to groups of educators
- Passion for education, technology, and youth empowerment
Assets:
- Teaching experience (K-12, after-school programs, tutoring)
- Curriculum development or instructional design experience
- Familiarity with provincial curriculum standards (Ontario, Quebec)
- Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) or differentiated instruction
- Video creation/editing skills
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, or AI ethics concepts
- Bilingual (English/French)
