Position Summary:
The Junior Project Manager supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction and service projects. This role works closely with project managers, field staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to develop a career in project management within the mechanical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning, scheduling, and execution of mechanical projects.
- Coordinate project activities with field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Monitor project schedules and help ensure milestones are achieved.
- Maintain project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and closeout documents.
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes when required.
- Assist in preparing project budgets and cost tracking reports.
- Monitor project expenses and help identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Support the preparation and submission of progress billings and invoices.
- Assist with change order pricing and documentation.
- Coordinate material orders and equipment deliveries.
- Work with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of project materials.
- Track inventory and ensure materials are available when required.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Communicate project updates and potential issues to the Project Manager/Owner.
- Promote and support company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and company standards.
- Participate in site inspections and quality control reviews.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in construction, mechanical contracting, plumbing, or project coordination preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with project management software is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
