Job Title: Rebar Production Supervisor - Etobicoke (Night Shift 10PM-6AM)

Compensation: $60,000 – $68,000

Position Summary
This position, reporting to the Production Superintendent is responsible for the execution
of production duties and directs the tasks of the workforce through Lead Hands.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
- Follow production protocol as established by the division Superintendent.
- Report all equipment breakdowns to division Superintendent, if available, and contact respective maintenance support services.
- Maintain a current operational knowledge of all plant equipment for purposes of training employees and the safe operation of equipment.
- Daily review of employee’s timecards, ensuring punch in/punch out.
- Meet with employees to discuss performance and behavioural related issues and document as required.
- Assist the division Superintendent with forecasting of workforce requirements to meet future production goals.
- Maintain appropriate levels of communication for each shift between Lead Hands, division Superintendent and other departments, as required.
- Assist the purchasing department with the forecasting, monitoring and analysis of material usage.
- Coordinate the storage and allocation of material in the warehouse through the Lead Hand(s).
- Troubleshoot specific production problems as required.
- Liaison between the production shop and other departments, as required.
- Maintain awareness and conform to supervisory responsibilities set forth in the Occupational Health and Safety Act, ensuring that the division operates in a safe manner, monitoring and correcting unsafe behaviours or conditions.
- Maintain appropriate levels of housekeeping within the division.
- Conduct routine inspections of the workplace and job safety and maintain records of workplace inspections.
- Interface with the Joint Health and Safety Committee pursuant to health and safety
issues, including participation in regular workplace inspections, as required.
- Report accidents and/or injuries and investigate workplace accidents, injuries and
incidents, as required.
- Provide all information pertaining to workplace accidents and injuries to Human Resources for processing pursuant to the Workers’ Compensation Act
- Supervise the performance of outside personnel while operating in the respective
division of Salit Steel, ensuring that outside contractors and sub-contractors have reviewed the company’s Health and Safety guidelines and policies and have completed the applicable safety awareness acknowledgment form.
- Work in accordance with company rules and regulations and ensure that those
directed work in a safe manner.
- Lead by example and provide positive motivation and build morale amongst all
division employees.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- The successful incumbent will be working 40+ hours per week in a plant setting as well as office setting.
- Exposure to the elements as well as loud noises.
- Required to stand, walk, lift, move and bend in various positions regularly.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Lead Hand or Supervisor a manufacturing
environment.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an industrial manufacturing
environment.
- Completion of college/vocational or technical training.
- Leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Health and Safety understanding
- Knowledge of the steel industry and fabrication practices
- First Aid, H&S and Crane Operator experience
