Licensed Paralegal – Small Claims Court & Landlord and Tenant Board (Remote)

About the Position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Licensed Paralegal to join our growing practice. The successful candidate will work primarily in Small Claims Court and Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) matters. This is a remote position offering flexibility while working with an experienced legal team.
The ideal candidate is organized, professional, capable of managing files independently, and enjoys working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Draft pleadings and court documents for Small Claims Court matters, including:
- Plaintiff's Claims
- Defences
- Defendant's Claims
- Motions
- Affidavits
- Settlement Conference Briefs
- Trial documents
- Enforcement of Judgments
- Prepare and file applications, notices, and supporting documentation for the Landlord and Tenant Board.
- Attend and represent clients at:
- Small Claims Court settlement conferences, motions, assessments, and trials.
- Landlord and Tenant Board hearings.
- Conduct legal research as required.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel/paralegals, court staff, and tribunal staff.
- Manage files from intake through resolution while meeting deadlines.
- Maintain accurate file notes and ensure compliance with court and tribunal procedures.
Qualifications
- Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Experience in Small Claims Court and/or Landlord and Tenant Board matters is considered a strong asset.
- Thorough knowledge of:
- Small Claims Court Rules
- Landlord and Tenant Board procedures
- Applicable legislation and practice directions
- Excellent drafting, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and legal document preparation.
