Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist to join our community mental health team to work in either or both of our locations at Airdrie and Calgary.
The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive mental health services, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of psychiatric conditions. This role offers an opportunity to work in outpatient environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The Psychiatrist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalized treatment plans and ensure optimal patient outcomes. Candidates with experience in community outpatient, acute care, child psychiatry care are highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments for patients across various age groups.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Prescribe and monitor medication regimens, ensuring safe administration and adherence.
- Provide brief psychotherapy as appropriate to support patient recovery.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care strategies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient interactions using electronic health record systems.
- Monitor patient progress through assessment and data collection and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Participate in CPD initiatives to advance psychiatric practices and improve patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management.
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards related to patient care.
Skills
- Proven experience working in out patient or acute care settings with a strong background in patient care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and psychiatric assessment tools.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems .
- Experience in specialized areas such as child and adolescent psychiatry
- Strong research skills with the ability to interpret clinical data effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
