Position Summary
Canadian Aviation College is seeking an experienced aviation maintenance professional to join our team as Assistant Person Responsible for Maintenance.
The Assistant PRM will support the PRM in managing the Approved Maintenance Organization and the maintenance control system for our Flight Training Unit. The position includes maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, technical records, quality assurance follow-up and coordination between maintenance and flight operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in administering the AMO Maintenance Policy Manual and FTU Maintenance Control Manual.
- Monitor compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations, company manuals and approved procedures.
- Plan and monitor scheduled inspections, airworthiness directives, life-limited components and other out-of-phase maintenance requirements.
- Review journey logs, technical records, work orders, maintenance releases and supporting documentation.
- Monitor aircraft defects, deferred defects and recurring defects, and coordinate timely rectification.
- Verify aircraft configuration, equipment lists, weight and balance reports and modification records.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with AMEs, apprentices, flight operations and outside maintenance providers.
- Assist with parts control, traceability, incoming inspection and control of unapproved or non-conforming parts.
- Support service difficulty reporting and investigation of maintenance-related occurrences.
- Assist in maintaining personnel qualifications, training records and maintenance authorizations.
- Participate in internal audits, root-cause analysis, corrective-action development and follow-up.
- Assist with amendments to the MPM, MCM and incorporated documents.
- Support Transport Canada inspections, audits and regulatory correspondence.
- Identify airworthiness or regulatory concerns and immediately report them to the PRM.
- Exercise only those management functions and authorities formally assigned through the applicable company manuals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 6 years of experience performing or directly supervising maintenance
- Strong experience with piston-powered general aviation aircraft, preferably within an FTU or CAR 573 AMO environment.
- Thorough working knowledge of CARs 406, 571, 573 and 605 and the associated standards.
- Knowledge of:
- AMO and FTU maintenance responsibilities
- Maintenance release requirements
- Technical record-keeping requirements
- Quality assurance and corrective-action processes
- Acceptable data for repairs and modifications
- Parts control and traceability
- Contracted maintenance arrangements
- Defect control and technical dispatch procedures
- Valid Canadian AME M1 licence is required.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound airworthiness decisions in a busy flight-training environment.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience maintaining Cessna 100 series and Piper Warriors & Seneca aircraft.
- Experience with float-equipped aircraft.
- Experience with maintenance schedules, equipment lists, weight and balance control and aircraft configuration audits.
- Training in quality assurance, internal auditing, human factors, safety management or root-cause analysis.
