As our manufacturing operations continue to grow, we are looking for a detail-oriented Receiving & Inventory Control Specialist to join our Inventory Control team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, maintaining accurate inventory, and working closely with operations to keep production moving efficiently.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Inventory Control Supervisor, the Receiving & Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting, discrepancy investigation, inventory reconciliation, and location management. The role also provides backup support for receiving operations and works closely with Receiving, Material Distribution, Purchasing, and Production to ensure materials are properly received, identified, stored, and available when needed.
What You'll Do
Inventory Control
- Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, and stock verification activities.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies using root cause analysis.
- Reconcile inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the inventory management system.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with identifying low-stock or out-of-stock items.
Inventory Organization
- Establish and maintain organized primary storage locations.
- Ensure all inventory locations are properly labeled and stock codes remain accurate.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe inventory storage areas.
Receiving Support
- Provide backup support to the Receiving & Inventory Control Coordinator.
- Assist with receiving documentation and inventory-related data entry.
- Support physical receiving activities, including material identification, inspection, labeling, and put-away.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment when required.
- Assist with implementation of future technologies including RF scanners and mobile receiving devices.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Receiving, Material Distribution, Purchasing, and Production teams to resolve inventory issues.
- Participate in inventory improvement projects and process enhancements.
- Support quarterly and annual physical inventory counts.
- Promote a safe, organized, and collaborative work environment.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or receiving.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience using computerized inventory or warehouse management systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and work collaboratively to resolve issues.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Forklift or Telehandler certification (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Knowledge of building materials or manufacturing environments is considered an asset.

Location
This position is based at our 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Crossfield, Alberta, located just 20 minutes north of Calgary. Our facility is strategically located along a High Load Corridor, allowing us to transport modular buildings throughout Western Canada.
