Job Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all building systems and utilities. This role ensures that the facility operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with cGMP regulations, local building codes, and company policies. The technician will work collaboratively with the Facilities, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to maintain and improve facility infrastructure.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, compressed air, water systems (Purified Water, WFI), and building automation systems (BAS).

Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to minimize downtime and production disruption.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and records to ensure compliance with cGMP, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.

Support facility inspections and audits by maintaining documented evidence of maintenance and calibration activities.

Participate in validation activities of utilities and facilities systems as required.

Collaborate with contractors and external service providers for specialized maintenance tasks.

Work closely with Engineering and Production teams to implement facility improvements and prevent equipment failure.

Identify opportunities for maintenance process improvements, energy efficiency, and cost reduction.

Respond and support emergency maintenance requests and participate in after-hours on-call rotation as needed.

Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to identify and implement facility improvements.

Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations within the facility.

Supports contractor supervision and coordination of external service providers.

Supports senior FMT on the daily completion of site utilities checklist.

Work with Maintenance Planner and Facilities Manager to ensure PM program is kept up to date.

Supports in audits and investigations to close deviations, change controls, and CAPA’s.

Manages site security and work closely with security contractors.

Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
-
Certificate or Diploma in a technical program in Electrical, Mechanical, or Facilities Maintenance (or equivalent experience).

Millwright license is an asset.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facility maintenance, preferably in pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environments.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems.

Experience with preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting, and repair documentation.

Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (cGMP, OSHA, environmental).

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-
Able to work in a team-based environment, strong communication, and time management skills.

Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and cleanroom facilities.

Knowledge of WFI, PW, and compressed gases systems in pharma manufacturing.

Manufacturing facility environment, including cleanrooms and utility areas.
-
Exposure to chemicals, mechanical equipment, and noise.

Working knowledge of CMMS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Able to lift 50 lbs.

May involve shift work, weekend, or on-call duties.
