Sinai Health is looking for an experienced and dedicated perioperative services leader to assume the role of Operations Manager, Perioperative Services. Reporting to the Senior Clinical Program Director for Surgical Services the Operations Manager is responsible for the leadership and direction of all business aspects of Perioperative Services, including materials, supplies, dashboards and other data collection, monitoring and analysis, OR efficiency metrics, and vendor related issues. The Operations Manager demonstrates strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and demonstrates a proactive approach to departmental needs.
They will foster effective employee and labour relations through knowledgeable interpretation and implementation of collective agreements, departmental and Hospital policies and procedures, and applicable legislation.
Working collaboratively with the Nursing Units, Finance and Purchasing teams, the Operations Manager will create a management structure for continuous process improvement and exercise Lean practices across the Perioperative Services value stream. The Operations Manager maintains current knowledge regarding all financial and procurement regulations and requirements and ensures that Perioperative Services is operating accordingly.
In this role you will:
- Manage the day-to-day business and financial operations of Perioperative Services
- Be responsible for recruiting, developing and managing a team of direct reports
- Assist in developing strategic plans and initiatives as well as plan for and track all Perioperative Services cost centre budgets
- Act as a liaison between the Hospital and the procurement purchasing unit and will act as correspondence for all vendor trials and evaluations for the program (both RFP and non-RFP)
- Educate the Perioperative Services team as needed to ensure awareness and adherence to regulations and requirements
- Participate in organizational business planning initiatives and other internal and external committees and working groups that impact the delivery of high-quality health services across the continuum of care for patients of Mount Sinai Hospital
- Continuously review surgical supply and equipment costs, identify, evaluate and implement actions to reduce program supply costs and develop business cases as needed, for capital budget and strategic items
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Job Requirements
Mandatory
- Successful completion of a University degree in a related field (e.g. Business, Finance, etc.) from an accredited educational institution
- Minimum of three (3) years’ recent and related experience which reflects competence in financial management and inventory control in a healthcare setting
- Applicants with proven equivalent recent and related training and experience may be considered
Preferred
- MBA preferred
- PMAC designation
- Knowledge of SAP
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficient with MS Office software programs (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) as well as supply management information systems
- Experience analyzing financial business performance and developing business cases to lead change within the organization
- Proven project management skills with the ability to plan, organize and coordinate various activities
- Exposure to Lean principles and a continuous improvement mindset with the ability to use these in support of improving the delivery of healthcare to patients
- Strong financial planning, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Solid research and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced time-sensitive environment with minimal direction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to clearly define and articulate requirements, priorities, impacts, and solutions
- Excellent networking and relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders as a means to ensure ongoing process improvement and the achievement of performance targets
- Flexible and self-directed with the ability to manage competing priorities during periods of rapid change and transition with constantly shifting priorities
- Possesses a high level of accountability and proven capability to identify opportunities, take initiative and think through future implications
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
