THE OPPORTUNITY
The Drafting Technician is responsible for reviewing contract documents and preparing accurate shop drawings accordingly. This role coordinates with the internal Engineering team to ensure the proper application of standard products and design details. Upon receipt of reviewed Site Instructions and Change Directives, the Drafting Technician will assess contract changes and incorporate revisions into shop drawings as required, subject to approval by the Project Management team. The role also includes attending project-specific meetings and proactively identifying and communicating discrepancies through clear, detailed, and well-documented queries to the appropriate parties.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
-
Report to the Drafting Manager or their designate regarding all aspects of assigned projects.
-
Review all provided project documentation and identify any missing information required to complete shop drawings.
-
Collaborate with the Engineering team to resolve project-specific technical issues and details.
-
Follow the drafting schedule and sequencing established by the Drafting Manager, providing regular progress updates and immediate notice of any anticipated delays in meeting deliverables.

Review contract documents for accuracy and continuity, and communicate discrepancies to the Project Management team in the form of queries or RFIs.

Prepare detailed and clearly documented RFIs, including supporting images or screenshots where applicable, for Project Manager review and submission.

Review returned markups from internal and external reviewers and incorporate revisions that do not affect project scope.

Obtain approval from the Drafting Manager or Project Management team before incorporating any revisions that impact scope or cost.

Review Site Instructions with the Project Manager and proceed with revisions only upon confirmation, particularly where scope impact may exist.

Prepare door take-offs, frame counts, and other internal project-specific reports as required

Work independently with mentorship and oversight from senior drafters.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Drafting Manager, Job Captain, or Team Leader.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Must be proficient in AutoCAD. Revit experience would be a plus, but is not required.

3-5 years’ experience in similar capacity
-
Must have minimum Architectural Technologist diploma or similar qualifications

Window wall design experience is valuable
-
Ability to read architectural drawing, structural drawings and blueprints.

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, including complex formulae

Solid Microsoft Office skills including but not limited to MS Word, MS Outlook, advanced knowledge of MS Excel, and Internet software

Ability to work with deadlines in a fast-paced work environment, independently and as part of a team, a multi-tasker who can prioritize when under pressure

High level of accuracy and confidentiality is essential with strong attention to detail

SALARY RANGE
$55,000 - $65,000 annual salary
