Busy medical clinic is looking for motivated and reliable individuals to join our team. We need one part-time medical office assistant to perform various office and clinical duties. An ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology, word processing software, and EMR (EMR Advantage). Experience in the listed clinical responsibilities will be an asset, but training will be provided.
Clinical Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
· Preparing examination rooms prior to patient appointments and managing patient flow Ensuring medical supplies/equipment/injections are prepared for each appointment Measuring and recording patients’ vital signs, height, weight and waist circumference, as appropriate
· Assisting physicians during sensitive exams/procedures, if needed (ie. IUD insertion) Providing instructions to patients for basic diagnostic tests (ie. urinalysis)
· Labelling collected specimens and ensuring requisitions are complete for daily lab pick-up Responding to physician-assigned tasks, related to test results, referrals, and call backs Triaging patients based on severity of symptoms for same-day appointments
· Maintaining and logging vaccine fridge temperature recordings
· Sterilizing instruments and maintaining the autoclave, based on infection control protocols Administering vaccinations under the medical directive of the family physicians
Administrative Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to:
· Greeting and registering patients
· Confirming and updating patient demographics and health card information at each appointment
· Scheduling and confirming appointments to optimize clinic efficiency
· Prioritizing patient care by communicating with multiple external service providers to maintain accurate patient records, while protecting patient confidentiality
· Managing phone calls (up to 4 lines), faxes and scanned/paper documents in a timely manner
· Handling third-party billings, and invoice reconciliation
· Coordinating supplies inventory with physicians
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Medical Office Assistant Certificate or equivalent in education or past experience
· Phlebotomy Certificate an asset
· Strong verbal and written English communication skills
· Excellent organizational and time management skills
· Basic computer literacy, including knowledge of word processing software, troubleshooting common IT issues, and at least a typing speed above 40wpm
· Pleasant demeanor, professionalism and excellent customer service skills are essential
· Availability to work evenings/weekends will be an asset
· Able to provide references and criminal record check upon request
Schedule Required:
Position would start as Part-Time and upon satisfactory performance transition to a Full-Time role.
Salary Range: $18/hr-$19/hr, based on experience
