The Projects You'll Be Working On
In Grande Prairie, our current and upcoming work is focused on multi-family residential developments and large-scale recreational facilities — projects that are visible, impactful, and technically interesting. You'll be part of a skilled crew delivering work that the community will use for decades.
Your Responsibilities
As a Journeyman Carpenter at ACL, you'll be a key contributor on site — executing quality work, supporting the crew, and helping drive projects forward. Key responsibilities include:
- Execute carpentry tasks to a high standard across a range of scopes: wood framing, interior and exterior finishing, concrete formwork, rebar layout and tying, and related work
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings; request clarification when needed
- Support site progress, quality control, and deadline adherence
- Mentor and support apprentices and less experienced crew members on site
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with ACL and OHS standards
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations as required
- Communicate material needs and site concerns to your Foreman or Superintendent promptly
- Operate tools and equipment safely; conduct daily checks on assigned equipment
- Take ownership of your work and contribute to a team culture of quality and professionalism
Skills & Qualifications
- Journeyman Carpenter Certificate (Interprovincial or Alberta) required
- Experience with wood framing, concrete formwork, interior/exterior finishing, thermal and moisture systems, and related commercial carpentry scopes
- Ability to read blueprints and follow technical instructions
- Strong work ethic and a team-first attitude
- Valid driver's license (driver's abstract required if operating ACL vehicles)
- Commitment to safety — non-negotiable
