Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Paralegal/ Law Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in personal injury and employment law, a passion for helping clients, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment. You will play a key role in supporting our lawyers, managing client files, and ensuring the efficient operation of the firm.
Key Responsibilities: Prepare and draft legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, and demand letters. Conduct legal research and summarize findings for the legal team. Manage case files, including organizing documentation and maintaining accurate records. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, and other stakeholders. Assist with preparing for trials, hearings, and mediations, including assembling briefs and exhibits. Calendar management, including tracking deadlines and scheduling appointments. Monitor court filings and ensure compliance with relevant rules and procedures. Provide general administrative support to the legal team as needed.
Qualifications: Diploma or certificate in Paralegal Studies or equivalent education. 2+ years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in personal injury and/or employment law. Strong knowledge of Alberta court procedures and rules. Proficiency with legal software, case management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with a keen attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
