About Oak Education Oak Education supports high achieving international school students on IB, AP, and IGCSE pathways, and prepares them for standardized tests, top tier admissions, and academic competitions.
The role This is our senior tutoring track, taught in small group classes (not one to one), for ambitious high school students. You teach at the top end of your subject: IB/AP higher level coursework, SAT preparation, and academic competition coaching.
What you will do
- Plan and deliver small group online classes in your subject (IB/AP, SAT, or competition prep)
- Prepare students for IB/AP exams, the SAT, and major academic competitions
- Manage group dynamics and keep every student in the class progressing
What we are looking for
- A genuine teaching or education background: you are an educator, not only a degree holder. For example, a teacher, tutor, or instructor at a school or an education company (such as Crimson, InGenius Prep, or other tutoring and test prep services), with a track record of teaching students one to one or in groups
- A strong academic background in the subject you teach, for example a degree from a top ranked university in a directly relevant field
- Demonstrated results: students' exam scores, competition placements, or admissions outcomes
- Excellent, confident English and a polished, professional teaching manner
Note: a strong pedigree on its own (for example a top university degree plus an industry job, but no teaching experience) is not what this role needs. Teaching experience is essential.
Nice to have
- Coaching experience in leading academic competitions, for example: AMC 10/12 and AIME and the Canadian Euclid contest (math), USACO (computing), USABO, USNCO, and USAPhO (biology, chemistry, physics), and the John Locke Essay Competition or the Concord Review (writing and humanities)
- Experience as an IB or AP examiner
- SAT or standardized test prep experience
