Burckhardt Compression was founded in 1844 as a mechanical workshop. Today, Burckhardt Compression is a worldwide market leader for reciprocating compressor systems and the only manufacturer and service provider that covers a full range of reciprocating compressor technologies and services. Within Canada, Burckhardt Compression has a strong Services division in which we aim to provide one-stop reciprocating service for our customers. We are able to provide field service, repair and engineering/revamp services and spare parts for any brand of reciprocating compressor.
Burckhardt Compression (Canada) Inc. (BCCA) has an opening for a CNC Lead Hand, that will be directly reporting to the CNC Team Lead, this position is based in Edmonton, AB.
Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead the Charge
- Be the go-to expert for CNC programming, machining, and production processes.
- Coach, mentor, and develop CNC programmers and machinists, helping them sharpen their skills and confidence.
- Keep the shop running smoothly by organizing CNC activities for maximum efficiency and productivity.
- Share team progress, performance updates, and development opportunities with the CNC Team Lead and Manager.
- Support internal and external customers by delivering quality products on time and to specification.
- Champion safety, quality, and continuous improvement in everything you do.
Programming
- Create and optimize CNC programs for mills, lathes, mill-turn centers, multi-axis machines, and laser cutting systems using Mastercam and Radan.
- Build, maintain, and improve a world-class Mastercam tooling library.
- Develop programming templates and standard machining strategies that make everyone's job easier.
- Program and operate laser cutting equipment to support production demands.
- Collaborate closely with machinists, programmers, and the technical team to turn ideas into finished products.
- Review and validate drawings, models, and technical documentation before production begins.
- Create simple component drawings when production needs a quick assist.
- Maintain secure, organized storage of proven CNC programs and best practices.
Keep Things Moving
- Monitor material inventory and help ensure production always has what it needs.
- Complete production documentation, requisitions, and supporting paperwork.
- Support routing development, work order creation, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with inventory movements, shipping activities, and order picking as needed.
- Step in as backup for the CNC Team Lead and help keep daily operations on track.
What Makes You a Great Fit?
✅ Journeyman Machinist, Millwright, or equivalent technical background
