Arborist Climber / Tree Care Technician (Immediate Start)
Rayzor Edge Tree Service – Waterloo Region
We’re hiring an experienced arborist climber ASAP as we continue to grow and add a second, pruning-focused crew.
This role is for the secondary climber on that new crew, working alongside a lead climber — with a strong focus on tree care, pruning, and preservation, not just removals.
This is not an entry-level job. We need someone who can get in a tree and work productively from day one.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Climbing and performing precision pruning (ISA standards)
- Supporting technical removals when required (but pruning is the focus)
- Assisting the lead climber with efficient canopy work
- Operating bucket truck, chipper, and saws
- Delivering clean, professional jobs clients notice
What Makes This Role Different
- Pruning-focused crew → less hack-and-slash, more skilled tree care
- Learn and refine proper arboriculture techniques, not just removals
- Work alongside a dedicated crew leader, not thrown in blind
- Be part of a company actively scaling and investing in growth
Our Standard (This Matters Here)
We are a premium service company, and we take that seriously.
- We aim for an exceptional customer experience on every job
- We strive for perfection in job satisfaction — not “good enough”
- Cleanup is non-negotiable — when we leave, the property should look better than when we arrived
If you take pride in your work and care about the finished product, you’ll fit in well here.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 1 year climbing experience (production work)
- Comfortable working in the canopy with ropes, positioning, and saws
- Interest in tree health, pruning, and long-term care
- Positive, no-drama attitude
- Shows up on time and pulls their weight
- G license required (DZ is a big plus)
- ISA Certified (or working toward it) = bonus
Why This Job Is Attractive
- Growing company → real opportunity to move up quickly
- 3+ climber environment → better load sharing, safer jobs
- High-end equipment → bucket trucks, loader, proper gear
- Premium service company → we focus on quality, not racing to the bottom
Winter Setup (Unique Advantage)
- Jan–March: shift into land clearing work
- Run excavators, mulchers, forestry equipment
- Stay working while most tree companies slow down
What You Get
- Competitive pay (based on experience)
- Consistent, year-round work
- Clear path to lead climber or crew leader
- Work with a tight team that takes pride in the finished product

- No experience climbers
- Guys who only want to do removals
- Anyone who cuts corners or leaves a mess
